hi, i'm JOYANG
I moved from China to Vancouver when I was six and didn't speak English yet. Music was the first thing that made sense without words. I grew up on Jay Chou and Chinese pop ballads and took some classical piano lessons as a kid, then fell for jazz piano, Korean R&B, and bedroom pop. These days I'm a jazz pianist at heart, and the songs end up somewhere in between all of it.
By day I'm a software engineer. By night I write, produce, mix, and master everything myself from my bedroom. I love music a lot, probably more than I let on, and I'm not really trying to play it cool about it.
I think life is mostly made of small moments worth holding onto, and I try to make songs that feel like one of them. If that sounds like your kind of thing, please feel free to stick around :)
